Advertising Attracts Attendants

Raising the profile of local football.

Brief: To increase general awareness of fixtures for Macclesfield Town FC

The Solution: To arrange and manage the club’s first ever integrated advertising campaign.

The Outcome: Given a small budget to work with, Silk Partnership identified a key roadside advert location and negotiated a deal to retain it for eight months. We planned and designed a new advert at either monthly or fortnightly intervals to fit best with the fixtures as they arose. The design was changed significantly with each new poster, to ensure they remained eye-catching. Similar adverts also appeared in the local press and both worked together to promote both matches, club merchandise and special offers over the course of the campaign. Despite a difficult season on the pitch, the club enjoyed its highest average attendance for several seasons.

Competition to Contract

Getting a foot in the door with the Airport Police.

Brief: To raise local awareness among local businesses of catering company Cucumbers.

The Solution: To run a competition in the local paper for two local people to win a lunch for them and their colleagues.

The Outcome: Cucumbers ran the competition in the Macclesfield Express, resulting in one of the winners coming from the police service at Manchester Airport. This proved successful and when the Airport were looking for a company to supply and maintain food vending machines in staff areas in the airport, Cucumbers were able to use the positive feedback from airport employees to help win the contract and expand their business. There was also follow-up PR opportunities in the local media.
